Honest Advice
Quite often we have potential clients calling us to enquire about a particular service, or to ask about a particular issue they have with their current website / project.
On the odd occasion it is in our clients best interest to give them advice that points them away from our services and to someone elses, and if that is the best course of action, for our client, then that is what we will advise.
For example...
A potential client, who had little understanding of websites and had limited levels of 'IT literacy', recently called us to ask our opinion on a current contract they were in with one of our many web design competitors.
The competitor, in our opinion, offered potentially good service to the client so long as certain elements of the contract (such as the annual renewal charge, levels of service and the quality of the XHTML code) were going to be satisfactory. The services that we could offer this client, that would closely match that of our competitor, were slightly limited for the same price however we could ensure particular levels of service that our competitor probably couldn't.
We're glad to say that the potential client then became a client of ours and we are please to say that they remain a satisfied client. Of course if they had decided to use the competitor, and that worked out well for them, then we'd be very happy for them, after all there's plenty of work out there for all of us!
