Having originally designed and developed the website for Hayle Heritage Centre’s parent / overseeing body – Harvey’s Foundry Trust – back in 2008 I was asked to assist with both the redesign of the new Harvey’s Foundry Trust website and also look at developing a totally new website for the museum.
Armed with a basic ‘Blogspot’ website but with Daisy – the Collections / Learning and Outreach Officer where we discussed what it was that they were trying to achieve.
As well as a contemporary design that worked well on all device types it was clear that the website needed a range of functionality to support the work of this wonderful local museum – requiring portfolios of collections, news about upcoming events, general information about the centre and a blog.
The brief was to create an full phase website development that would take into account all of the information they needed to portray to locals and visitors alike.
Following an initial in depth meeting and a clear proposal that documented exactly what was to be achieved for the project I identified the most appropriate functions for the website. Based on these I put together a content outline and strategy, a wireframe website for the home page and internal pages of the website (as a concept / prototype for the working website) – and the creative development of visuals and template development for the website.
The client are very happy with the resulting website that can be updated by their staff and volunteers, and that can be accessed easily by their visitors.
The website can be seen here – www.hayleheritagecentre.org.uk.
